OT: One rough day in 1975 Bowling Green, Ohio

Thought you guys might want a glimpse of life in 1975 for a touring engineer. Concert stopped due to rain resulting in near riot. Fire set to press box by angry crowd, average day in the life. Last concert EVER held there. Caveat, not my pic, pretty sure originally a news photo. I was too busy and not high enough. Not mixing. was tech support for stage.

about 9 bands I think, IIRC Golden Earring was about to go on we were changing the stage.

Something you don't see too often OG is.... The mixing booth set off center from the stage/speakers.. And not nearly enough speakers for what looks like a 100,000-125,000 people or more... Must of had a bunch of 203B's.

?The only other problems were the fact that the number of university students attending the affair numbered only about one-tenth of the total crowd and that the sound system did not hold up well when carrying the high volume rock acts,?

?As a young teenager, I recall appreciating the lovely young lady six feet from us who chose to stay topless all day.?

My brain has a couple discrepancies with that news article, promoters said 60, 000. Looks like that paper, or maybe a blimp? was the source of the shot I posted. At least I got the year right. It was common for underpowered systems back then, promoters told sound crews 20,000 to get the price down, then sold way more tickets. All about profit. The pic I posted came from a friend who could not remember the source.

Re the mix position, looked less off center from stage, but I think the idea was to be right in front of a speaker stack? I was helping get bands on/off quickly. I remember the morning, and then passing out that night exhausted, and bits in between. You stay too busy to think.

FWIW Alice Cooper has turned Republican.
